        | Nafpaktos, a small historical and picturesque town
only 8 km from Antirio and 216 km from Athens. It’s built
amphitheatrically on the side of of a hill, which lies on the sea
opposite to Peloponnese between Delphi and Messologi. The old town
situated in the Walls has kept its own style, its old face. Your look
meets everywhere the beauty, the harmony, the serenity.
Watching from the top of Nafpaktos’castle the panorama of Corinthian and
the opposite Peloponnesian line you are out of the reality in some way.
Down, in front of your legs, you can see the small picturesque Venetian
port dandle between yesterday and today.

        | Nafpaktos or “Lepanto” in the Venetian way of
speech, it was thrashed many times by intruders, conquerors, pirates,
epidemics and earthquakes. The historic calendar of Nafpaktos is full of
significant dates. One of the most gorgeous events of its tempestuous
history is the event of Nafpakto’s sea fight of great importance, in
1571, when the Christian forces won and it was detained the Mohammedans’
advance towards Europe preserving the European civilization. | |
Nafpaktos’s got all these elements for being picturesque. Green enough,
plenty of waters, big old platans, clear sea, spotless yards with beautiful
gardens, a marvelous fort and small port together which is the smallest and
the most beautiful in all over Mediterranean and its powerful castle that is
    “testifier” of its adventurous history.
Its climate is considered one of the best of the country. It is mild with a
soft winter and a cool summer. It’s got increased rainfalls, short periods
of summer aridity and a great sunlight. The middle temperature of the place
is 18ºC. Architectonic and town-planning of Nafpaktos. Today, the town it’s
got the look of a civil composition which is developed along a seaside of 5
    and more kilometers.
